The Treasury, known locally as Al Khazneh, 

Petra is a world-renowned historical and archaeological site located in southern Jordan, and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, known for its stunning rock-cut architecture and rich history.

Petra was once a thriving city of the Nabataean people, who carved their buildings and temples into the red rock cliffs more than 2,000 years ago. The most famous structure in Petra is the Treasury, which is carved into a towering rock face and features intricate carvings and decoration. Other famous structures include the Monastery, the Royal Tombs, and the Great Temple.

Visitors to Petra typically enter the site through the narrow Siq, a natural rock formation that forms a dramatic entrance to the city. Once inside Petra, visitors can explore the ruins, climb to the tops of the cliffs for breathtaking views, and visit the small shops and cafes in the area.

In addition to its historical and archaeological significance, Petra is also known for its natural beauty. The surrounding landscape is characterized by towering cliffs, deep gorges, and colorful sandstone formations, making it a popular destination for hiking and outdoor adventures.
